SUL X NORTH

Felipe Cama (São Paulo-SP)
Guest Artist

41st SARP Programming
Curator Nilton Campos

Felipe Cama was awarded in 2005 at the "30th SARP - Salão de Arte de Ribeirão Preto Nacional - Contemporâneo", with the acquisition of six works by the artist for the MARP collection.

The project "Sul x North" presents a set of works in which Felipe Cama appropriated the paintings of Marianne North, an English artist who lived and painted Rio de Janeiro in the 19th century.

The artist appropriated North's paintings of Rio and photos of these same landscapes posted by tourists on social media. The installation presented at the MARP references the installation that Marianne made herself in the gallery that she built for her works in London.
